Good morning, neighbors. We’ve reached that point in February where the novelty of a “winter wonderland” has officially worn thin. Today brings a bit of everything—a dash of sun, a threat of snow, but at least the mosquitoes are still in storage.
Weather
High: 37°F | Low: 19°F – Mostly cloudy with a 50% chance of snow arriving this afternoon. Expect about an inch of accumulation—just enough to make the commute interesting and the dog’s paws a mess. The weekend looks clear but bracingly cold, so keep the hearth warm. National Weather Service

Almanac
Traction is the name of the game today. If you haven’t tossed a bag of sand or grit into the back of the truck for weight and emergency grip, now’s the hour. Wear layers that breathe; digging out the driveway in a non-breathable coat is a recipe for a lingering chill.
Today in Loudoun History
February 6, 1797: One of the most significant civil rights ripples occurred this month right in Middleburg. Two Howard University students entered a local drugstore and sat at the lunch counter, challenging the “takeout only” status quo for Black residents. This quiet act of defiance prompted a flurry of telegrams to President Kennedy (who frequently weekended in Glen Ora) and eventually led to the integration of Middleburg’s businesses.
